Getting Started
PicPerf’s goal is to make upgrading your site’s image performance really easy. You won’t need to mess with any DNS, move your images anywhere, or process them in any way. All you need to do is sign up for an account and prefix your site’s image URLs. Here are those steps in a little more detail:
Step #1: Create an Account
Create an account here. No card is required. Every new account comes with a 14-day free trial.
Step #2: Set Your Domain(s)
In order to successfully optimize image, set the domain from where you normally serve images. For example, if my image usually lives at https://macarthur.me/some-image.jpg
, your domain would be macarthur.me
. Some websites serve from multiple domains. That’s fine — add them all.
Step #3: Prefix Your URLs
For each image, stick https://picperf.io
at the beginning. For example, https://macarthur.me/some-image.jpg
becomes https://picperf.io/https://macarthur.me/some-image.jpg
.
Integrations That Do the Work for You
There are currently two official integrations that’ll prefix your images for you. They’re a great way to make setup even easier.
- WordPress Plugin - Download the plugin ZIP, install it, and activate it. You’ll be automatically prompted to update when a new version is available. Take note that this plugin is not available on the WordPress plugin directory.
- Markdown Plugins - Use these for any Markdown-powered website where Remark or Rehype plugins are allowed.
About the Trial
When you first sign up, you’ll be registered for a 14-day trial of PicPerf. Try it out on a few of your images to see how it’ll work.
